Gold forecast — the technical outlook now
Nobody has a guaranteed gold price forecast. What we show is the technical outlook as read by the standard indicators used worldwide: when price trades above its moving averages and oscillators are positive the reading is buy, and the reverse is sell. Use it to understand the market, not as a promise of profit, and combine it with the dollar, interest-rate and geopolitical news that move gold.

Frequently asked questions
How is the price per gram for each karat calculated?
Pure gram price = world ounce price ÷ 31.1034768, then multiplied by (karat ÷ 24) and by the exchange rate. 21K = pure gram price × 0.875; 18K = × 0.75.
What is the nisab and rate of Zakat on gold and silver?
The gold nisab is 85 g of pure gold and the silver nisab is 595 g of pure silver. Zakat is 2.5% of market value once a full Hijri year (hawl) has passed.
Are the displayed prices final buy/sell prices?
No. They are indicative market values of the metal (melt value) and exclude making charges or dealer margins. Shop prices vary by craftsmanship and brand.
Is the site free, and how often do prices update?
Completely free with no sign-up. Prices derive from the world ounce price in real time and convert to your currency automatically with a last-updated stamp; indicators recompute every 30 seconds.
Fair price — know before you buy or sell
The published price is the raw metal only. The jeweller adds making charges, hallmarking, margin and tax — these tools break every figure down clearly.
Raw gold price today, Wednesday, September 23, 2026: 21K = 90.25 GBP, 18K = 77.36 GBP, 24K = 103.15 GBP per gram before making charges — compare it with the jeweller’s quote and your selling price.
💰 Value my gold now
Enter the weight and pick the karat — valued at this second’s price.
🔍 Check a jeweller's offer
Enter the piece type, weight, karat and the jeweller's quoted price to see the real making charge and whether it is fair, high or excessive.
24K investment bars are VAT-exempt — if the dealer charged VAT on a bar, ask why.
Advanced (tax & making-charge range)
The usual range is an indicative default for your country, piece type and weight (small pieces cost more per gram because workshop cost is fixed) — adjust it if you know local rates. Making charges are usually negotiable.
💰 Sell your used gold
Jewellers buy used gold at the raw metal price minus a deduction — the making charge you paid is not refunded.
The rate varies by jeweller, condition and stones (pieces are weighed without stones). Compare several offers and ask to see the scale.
7 practical tips
- Check the raw gram price for your karat on the home page before entering the shop.
- Ask for the piece to be weighed in front of you, and make sure stones are not priced as gold.
- Ask for the making charge per gram separately from the gold price, then verify the gap with the checker.
- Confirm the hallmark (karat stamp) and get an invoice showing weight, karat and making charge.
- Small pieces cost more per gram — for saving, bars and coins are cheaper.
- Making charges are usually negotiable, especially above the usual range.
- When selling, the jeweller pays the raw price minus a scrap deduction — the making charge is not refunded, so compare offers.
FAQ on making charges and selling
Why is the jeweller's price higher than the published price?
The published price is the raw metal (spot) only. The jeweller adds making charges, hallmarking, margin and VAT. The gap between the two is exactly what the “Check a jeweller's offer” tool reveals.
What is the difference between the raw price and the price including making charges?
The raw price is the metal's value by weight and karat only; the price including making charges adds the craftsmanship fee and the shop's margin. When you sell, the jeweller pays the raw price only.
How much is the making charge per gram of 21K gold?
There is no single fixed number — a fair charge depends on the piece type and weight: bars and coins are lowest, chains and bangles higher, rings and earrings highest per gram because fixed workshop costs are spread over less weight. Enter your details in the checker to get the fair range for your piece.
How is the making charge calculated and how much does the jeweller earn per gram?
Making charge = jeweller's price per gram minus the raw gold price for that karat (after removing tax); it includes the jeweller's margin, workshop fee and hallmarking. The tool separates the per-gram charge, its share of the gold value and the negotiable amount.
How do I know if a jeweller is overcharging?
Enter the piece type, weight, karat and quoted price to get an instant verdict — fair, high or excessive — against the usual range in your country. If the charge is oddly below the usual range, verify the karat and hallmark.
Can I negotiate the making charge?
Usually yes, especially when it is above the usual range for the piece. Find the real charge first with the tool and use the figure as leverage in the shop.
How much will I get for used gold, and how much less than new?
You typically receive 90% to 97% of the raw gold value depending on weight, karat and condition, because the making charge you paid is not refunded. Estimate the amount with the “Sell your gold” tool before visiting the jeweller.
What is a gold pound and how is it priced?
The gold pound is a common Egyptian unit equal to 8 grams of 21K gold. Its price = 21K gram price × 8, and it carries a relatively small making charge, which makes it popular for saving.

Gold nisab today, Wednesday, September 23, 2026: 85 g of 24K = 8,767.54 GBP; silver nisab (595 g) = 924.89 GBP. Zakat is 2.5% of the value after one lunar year.
Your Zakat due
Computed on the current market value of pure metal whose hawl is complete.
Methodology & notices
Applied methodology: Zakat is 2.5% of the market value of pure metal. Pure content per item = weight × purity (karat ÷ 24 for gold; fineness per mille for silver). Gold nisab 85 g (or 87.48 g); silver nisab 595 g (or 612.36 g). In “combined” mode the values of gold and silver are summed and compared with the chosen nisab at market value (the Hanafi and Maliki view); in “separate” mode each metal is tested by weight against its own nisab (the Shafi‘i and Hanbali view). The hawl is checked per item from its purchase date on the Umm al-Qura calendar to the day. Note: many scholars join newly acquired metal to existing nisab under one hawl — a recognised difference requiring scholarly approval.
